Postcrossing Card
I custom made this postcard showcasing some pictures in and around Salt Lake City that I've taken for use with Postcrossing. I ordered a pack from Moo and I hope they arrive soon! It's got pictures of the City/County Building at Washington Square, a pier on Oquirrh Lake in Daybreak, a poppy flower, a view of the Salt Lake Valley, and some stones.
Senior Pride
This piece of junk mail showed up at my house today. It's so full of wonder I had to share. Wear it with Senior Pride! Remind all those good for nothing whippersnappers that you're old and deserve something extra for living so long. Embarass friends and coworkers. Better yet, get them to join the shame by buying 3 at a discount!
Going Postal
An interesting article by Georg Jensen arguing for the reorganization of the USPS. I couldn't agree more with his sentiments. When I lived in London there was a political backlash against the junk mail problem and there would be signs on people's doors asking their postal carrier to not leave any junk. It's a shame that the USPS has been bastardized in the same way, working only to deliver coupon packets that everyone throws away, consuming millions of gallons of gas and man hours in the process. An astonishing fact from his article is that the USPS employs 800,000 people, second only to the Defense Department and Wal-Mart. While I appreciate the low price mail service, there has to be a way to overhaul this system to eliminate the bloated waste that has been rendered redundant due to the internet. Obama, here's a place to save money.
